Preparing Your iPad for Reset

When you’re ready to sell your iPad 10th Gen, it’s essential to reset it properly to protect your personal data and ensure the new owner gets a clean device. This guide will walk you through the necessary steps to perform a complete reset.

Preparing Your iPad for Reset

Before initiating the reset process, make sure to back up any important data. You can use iCloud or connect your iPad to a computer to create a backup via iTunes or Finder.

Signing Out of Apple ID

To prevent activation issues for the new owner, sign out of your Apple ID. Navigate to Settings > [your name] and scroll down to tap Sign Out. Enter your Apple ID password when prompted.

Disabling Find My iPad

Ensure that Find My iPad is turned off. This can be done in Settings > [your name] > Find My > Find My iPad. Toggle the switch off and enter your Apple ID password if required.

Performing the Reset

Once preparations are complete, proceed with the reset. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad. Tap Erase All Content and Settings. Confirm your choice and enter your device passcode or Apple ID password if prompted.

After the Reset

The iPad will restart and display the initial setup screen. At this point, the device is wiped clean and ready for its new owner. Do not set up the device again if you’re selling it; instead, turn it off and hand it over.

Additional Tips

  • Remove the SIM card if applicable.
  • Ensure the device is fully charged before starting the reset.
  • Include accessories like the charger and cables when selling.
  • Consider erasing the device remotely if lost or stolen, using Find My iPad.
